God’s Promises for Boys by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker

This is a short little book of scriptures for different situations to read to boys as the time arises.  Each topic also includes a short little poem.  The book has 127 pages.

While I did enjoy it (as did my boys), we think it would be more effective if, along with the scriptures, there was a little story or example… something that would appeal to a little boys heart.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a little book of scripture that is easy to locate and have my boys turn to at the appropriate time (for example, when they need help obeying their parents, being a good brother, being a better friend, etc.).  I just think it would sink in a little more if it was presented in a way that would catch the heart of a little boy.

I would recommend this book to those that are looking for a “gift” book, but not necessarily those that are wanting more of a devotional to share with their sons.

It is a cute book and we will for sure keep it handy for a quick lesson in God’s Word.
