Spring Break 2010

All of my posts are soooo behind.  Baby steps to catch up!

Aaron had his dream come true this Spring Break,a generous gift from a friend, a free ticket to SXSW (a technology junkie’s ultimate prize!)

So me and the boys planned lots of fun activities while he was gone to keep us busy!

First, I took the boys to paint a special gift for their Gammie and their daddy!  Here are their finished products before they were “fired”.

My twin, Ginger, and her girls (yes, I said girls…she has 4 of them, and I’ve got the boys :) came into town on Saturday!  After church on Sunday, we had a picnic in the park, yummy frozen yogurt, and while my sis ran to the store, the boys got to play in the pop fountains.  As you can tell, this was a spontaneous act, so they are in their clothes :).

My favorite thing we did over the week was drive out to Brazos Bend State Park.  This was our first trip out there.  It was so much fun!  We got there early for our first ever bird walk.  And we saw more than just birds!!!  Look at this!!

Yes, these were only a few feet away from us....with nothing in between us and them! They were in our way by the path so we had to slowly walk past them. Yikes!

We got hissed at once....scaaaaarrrrrreeyyyyyy!

After the bird walk, the boys got to touch a baby alligator and attend a class on honey bees.  Very interesting!

If you look closely in the middle, you can see the queen bee. She looks different from all the others.

Then we went on a hike…

It wore Boston out :)

Before we left, the boys found the perfect climbing tree….

Then we stopped and had dinner and went to Half Priced Books to purchase the National Geographic North American Bird Field Guide so we can keep track of all the birds we’ve seen!

It was such a wonderful day!

Next on the list, we went to the park downtown for the first time.  It was such a neat park.  We had originally planned to see the opera story time…surprisingly, this was not a big hit :)…so we just played in the water and had a picnic.

You can't really tell, but there is water falling all around them.

We left there and went straight to another park closer to home for a dinner picnic and some reading in the park!

.....flying the worlds smallest kite...HA!

It was an awesome week full of memories!  I wish every week was spring break…kids at home full time and beautiful weather!
